Advertisments of Commodore-Hardware

This prospectus of the year 1981 gives an overview of the CBM4000 and CBM8000 series and their periphery. Even it describes which computer is suitable for which purpose and how simple it is to operate them in the daily use. Typically for Commodore once more there are pictures of "Dummies". Later the CBM4031 were not installed in the shown case, but in the housing of the CBM2031, which had the same technology. Furthermore I do not know anything about the real existence of the 8"-disk-drives CBM8061 and CBM8062 described at page 10.

Here Commodore presents the (M)ehrfach(B)enutzer-(S)ystem. It consists of the main-unit MBS100 which can be connected with up to 8 daughter-units MBS150. Like in a small network it is possibel to access with several computers to one-off peripheral devices, like disk-drives or printers. This joint access of multiple computers to one disk-drive with its small capacity seems to be not very useful. The usage of a hard-disk-drive is preferable to it.

In 1982 the Programmable Interface System CBM4270 came out. It consists of a 19"-rack which could be equipped with up to 8 interface-boards with different functionality. With this controller the opportunities of the CBM-Computers were extendet significant.
A very rare piece of hardware from Commodore!
The different picture sizes results of the strange folding of the prospectus and not of a scanning mistake.

Likewise in the year 1982 the CBM4000 as well as the CBM8000 becomes capable of Hires-graphics! With this additional board it is possible to depict a resolution of 512 x 512 pixels at the integrated screen. The flyer includes the announcement of a graphics extension for the 700 series too. This extension should be able to depict each pixel in one of eight colours in the same resolution. An external monitor is required of course.

With the above mentioned graphics card, the pen-plotter CBM4075 and the corresponding software, "Layout-Sticking" became redundant even for smaller firms. Still today the advantage of developing a document with computers is the flexibility in the event of alterations and errors!
